Militancy

Militancy has become a daunting problem in today’s world. Militants are aggressive, violent, destructive, and superstitious people.  In support of the so-called reform of the state or society in the extreme and violent ways they act.  In Bangladesh, the risks and vulnerabilities created by militancy have become a serious threat to national security.

Militancy has become a threat to life, the economy, and political and religious pluralism in Bangladesh. Religious assassinations, bombings in public places of festivity, entertainment, and worship, have stunned the country. In the South Asian regional context, militancy is a serious and growing threat. Compared to the other states, militancy in Bangladesh is relatively a new phenomenon. Bangladesh has witnessed a sharp rise in militancy recently.

Over the last two decades, a number of militant groups have established their presence through violent acts of terrorism in Bangladesh.   There is no denying the fact that several Bangladeshi militant outfits, including Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT), Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen-Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) share a common agenda with international jihadi groups like al-Quida and IS.

Religious terrorism, using violence in the name of religious ideologies, has seen a sharp rise in the country. In all its manifestations, it is one of the most serious security challenges currently confronting Bangladesh. As a result critical sectors in Bangladesh, including energy, transportation, law enforcement, information technology, finance and public health, have all become increasingly vulnerable to terrorist activities.

The consequences of terrorism are catastrophic. Some of the militant groups in Bangladesh  are aided by Muslim extremist organizations. Perhaps several militant groups patronized by the international organizations are utilizing religious sentiments of the people silently and violently.

The country’s basic security has become a serious threat. As the issue of security has emerged as a new challenge for us, all should work against the heinous activities nationally and internationally.
