Gender discrimination means creating differences between males and females. Especially in third-world countries, women are considered inferior to men. In spite of their having merits and capabilities, they are not given what they deserve. It is proved that gender discrimination tells upon the mental, physical and psychological growth of the girls. Their health, education, and social status are affected severely because of gender discrimination. In our society, the education of girls is not considered essential. Again in the case of decision making even about their own life, their marriage, education, etc. their opinion is considered useless. They are working in the family and outside the family, but their contribution is not appreciated with due honor. There are various reasons why women do not get equal rights. Most of the people of our country are not properly educated and so they fail to understand the potentialities of women and the contribution they have made in different sectors of our life. Their birth is not received warm-heartedly. The female children are considered a burden to the family. As they are not given proper food, and equal opportunity for education, they are neglected. What is very unfortunate is that they are often tortured physically and mentally by their male counter-part. This problem must be solved. If our people are educated and given proper knowledge of humanity they will understand the value of women and then the disparity will be dissolved from society.
